Note:2MASS (2 Micron All-Sky Survey) is a survey of the complete sky in the near-infrared bands J (1.25mum), H (1.65mum), and Ks (2.17mum), achieved with two 1.32m telescopes located at Mt. Hopkins, AZ, and at CTIO, Chile.
In the format JHHMMSSss+DDMMSSsA, based on the position, the optional trailing letters are used to distinguish sources with otherwise duplicate names.
The final release (2MASS July 2003) supersedes the Intermediate Release (2MASSI, Spring 2000). The extended sources are designated by the acronym 2MASX.
