AllWISE HiPS surveys available

Posted by Thomas Boch on 14 April 2014 11:34 CEST

4 AllWISE bands displayed in Aladin
We juste released Progressive image surveys for the 4 AllWISE bands (W1 at 3.6um, W2 at 4.6um, W3 at 12um and W4 at 22um). We also generated a color HiPS from the W4, W2 and W1 bands.

The image HiPS complement the AllWISE catalogue already available in VizieR.

These new surveys can be displayed in any HiPS-compatible client. They are available in Aladin from the menu File --> Open and from the HiPS tab, open the node Image --> Infrared --> WISE.

You can also visualize the color HiPS directly from Aladin Lite below :

Aladin v8 announcement

Posted by CDS admin on 25 March 2014 15:14 CET

The CDS are pleased to announce a new major Aladin version : Aladin v8

Aladin version 8 improvements mainly concern the global all sky features: Hierarchical Progressive Survey tools (HiPS) and Multi-Order Coverage map tools (MOC) . Used in conjunction with Aladin Lite (Javascript Web embedded HiPS viewer), Aladin provides a very efficient framework for managing, displaying, comparing and analyzing data from large astronomical data surveys (for instance, see GLIMPSE 360 news).
