EuroVO-AIDA, Work Package 8: Assessment of emerging technologies

Objectives

Assess the potential usage of emerging technologies of interest to the VObs in technical areas where partners are involved.

Description of work

Study, prototyping and evaluation of the usage of:

• Web2.0 for Data Centres (CNRS): assessment of technology and of the human cost associated to quality management (moderation, user-account management, etc) - another line of research is "service mashup" - The assessments will be performed on the widely used CDS services
• Semantics and ontologies, with applications to the astronomical semantic web and to the definition and usage of an astronomical vocabulary (INAF, with a significant contribution of CNRS)
• Data Mining (UEDIN)

The co-operation between partners is a networking activity undertaken in WP2-3 (EuroVO-AIDA Technology Forums).

Deliverables

• D8.1 (Month 15 - April 2009, CNRS and other WP8 participants): WP8-JRA3 Intermediate report and associated prototypes.
• D8.2 (Month 27 - April 2010, CNRS and other WP8 participants): WP8-JRA3 final report and associated prototypes
