Oureach VO-AIDA
===============

Program of today's telecon:

- Introduction
   -Welcome Giulia Iafrate. Giulia will work here in Trieste
    full-time on outreach VO-AIDA. Giulia just graduated in 
    physics with a specialization in astronomy. She
    is a very active amateur astronomer and has been
    helping me with outreach activities in the past
    1.5 yrs.

   -After strasbourg, I consider this the kick-off meeting 
    for outreach-AIDA. 

- Main points (they are listed below):
  -Define requirements with a discussion on existing software:
    -discuss Aladin and Stellarium in some detail
    -discuss differences and pros/cons of VIRGO vs Aladin
    -comments on sky-map.org, an SDSS realization very close
       to our goals
    -comments on Google Sky 

- Confirm/define a consensus on things to do and on how to proceed

- Program for the relatively near future:
    -translate Aladin interface into Italian
    -first round of simplifications of the GUI+database
    -short italian summary of parts of the user guide
    -initiate program of testing tools with feed-back with
       highschool teachers/amateur astronomers/advanced students
    -collaboration with Le Stelle vanno a scuola+ESPLORACOSMO
       (http://radiosun.ts.astro.it/scuoleremote/)
    -explore forums on astronomical tools for the public 
   
- Program for the later future:
    -produce primers/documents in several languages
    -find ways to promote VO-AIDA

- Next meeting WP5 in Trieste: Poll for Wednesday May 21 
  afternoon 2:30pm-4pm (it is the free afternoon) or Monday 
  May 19 evening 6pm-7:30pm.
  There is also the possibility of skipping a parallel session,
  but of course I did not write this.
