CXOVVV (Chandra X-ray Observatory Vista Variables in Via Lactea probable cluster member)
Write:<<CXOVVV JHHMMSS.ss+DDMMSS.s>>
N: 2148
Object:* in Cl*  (SIMBAD class: Star)
Note:The CXOVVV catalog is a list of probable cluster members in NGC 6231 based on observations from the Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO) and the Vista Variables in the Via Lactea (VVV) survey. This study provides a greatly expanded membership catalog based on a reanalysis of archival CXO observations using a methodology with improved sensitivity to faint X-ray sources and deeper catalogs of near-infrared counterparts. The tabulated probable cluster members range from OB stars to brown-dwarf candidates and from Class II to Class III pre-main-sequence stars.

The CXOVVV catalog will be published in an electronic table (Table 3) in the following paper submitted to the Astronomical Journal: "The Structure of the Young Star Cluster NGC 6231. I. Stellar Population" by Michael A. Kuhn, Nicolas Medina, Konstantin V. Getman, Eric D. Feigelson, Mariusz Gromadzki, Jordanka Borissova, and Radostin Kurtev.

A second paper entitled "The Structure of the Young Star Cluster NGC 6231. II. Structure, Formation, and Fate" is planned for submissing to the AAS Journals in May, 2017.
