Note:MYStIX (Massive Young Star-Forming Complex Study in Infrared and X-ray) is an archive survey of 20 massive star forming regions in the Galaxy at distances from 0.4 to 4 kpc. It combines new catalogs constructed from three observatories - Chandra X-ray Observatory in the X-ray band, UKIRT/UKIDSS in the near-infrared, and Spitzer Space Telescope in the mid-infrared - using sophisticated statistical methods to produce new reliable (but not complete) catalogs of pre-main sequence stars. This MPCM sample includes pre-main sequence members of the star forming complexes ranging from Class I protostars to Class III weak-line T Tauri stars with ages ∼0.1 to 5 Myr.

An important intermediate step is the identification of infrared-excess sources by fits to the near- and mid-infrared spectral energy distributions. This catalog of MYStIX InfraRed Excess (MIRES) sources is not a precise subset of the MPCM sample because it was obtained for larger fields of view of the MPCM sample. It is thus an important, independent dataset needing IAU designation.

The MIRES catalog will be published as an electronic table in the following paper submitted to Ap J Supplements:
The MYStIX InfraRed-Excess Source Catalog
Matthew S. Povich, Michael A. Kuhn, Konstantin V. Getman, Heather A. Busk, Eric D. Feigelson, Patrick S. Broos, Leisa K. Townsley, Robert R. King, & Tim Naylor

The MIRES designation is closely tied to the proposed designation, MPCM. Note that the MYStIX project generates other (often very large) tables of intermediate data products that we do not believe require IAU designations. Eric Feigelson is the coordinator of the MYStIX project and is the contact for consultation on the proposed acronyms.

7 papers are submitted to ApJSuppl describing MYStIX procedures and intermediate results leading to the MPCM sample. 10-15 science papers are planned for the 2013-15 period.
